Menthières

Ski resorts in France
Menthières is a small ski area near Chézery-Forens in the French Jura Mountains, at the foot of Crêt d’Eau. The focus here is on making your first turns rather than long runs. The ski area ranges from 3,510 to 3,773 feet above sea level, with 262 feet of vertical drop and a compact layout designed for beginners and families with children.
The skiing includes two beginner slopes and one red run that offers a bit more challenge once you’ve mastered the basics. Three lifts, including a magic carpet for the beginner hill, serve the area. The limited vertical drop means experienced groomer skiers will quickly get more repetition than variety.

Menthières is a small mountain village with a couple of places to eat, and there’s also the option to eat a packed lunch indoors. Opening is weather- and snow-dependent, so check operating status before you go. This is best suited for a simple day of skiing with kids or for learning to ski, rather than a ski vacation with big terrain ambitions.
