Rättviksbacken

Rättviksbacken is a true alpine classic just above downtown Rättvik, only about 0.6 miles from central Rättvik, with a magnificent view over Lake Siljan. It’s a small, easy-to-reach ski area that’s perfect for both spur-of-the-moment runs and family days.

A big part of the experience is the base area. There’s a waffle café serving waffles and simple dishes, often with the wood-burning stove going—and the view as a bonus. If you want to bring your own food, there are picnic areas both indoors and outdoors. Along the main slope there are two lean-to shelters; by the kids’ area there’s a barbecue spot, and next to the warming hut there are also ski lockers.

Right by the slope you’ll find a well-stocked ski rental shop where you can also buy lift tickets. If you need better glide or sharper edges, the staff can help you with that on site.

Rättviksbacken also offers ski school for kids on a couple of weekends at the beginning of winter, in partnership with Friluftsfrämjandet.
