Sweden's northernmost ski resort is, at first glance, barely more than a cluster of houses along the Ore Railway. But when the worst of the winter darkness has passed in February, Gränsen boasts classic mountain peaks such as Nordals and Vassitjåkka, heli-skiing in an area the size of a small Central European country and, not least, the competition that ends the season for most of the Swedish freeskier elite – the Extreme Nordic Championships.
After that, the spring slush takes over, and the lifts usually spin until midsummer.

In my opinion Sweden's only wild mountain! If the conditions are right, skiing is often world-class.
