Christmas Mountain is a small ski resort in central Wisconsin with a focus on piste skiing in a compact and easy-to-understand format. Located in a wooded landscape just outside of Wisconsin Dells, the slope makes efficient use of the terrain to create several short but clearly profiled slopes.
The ski area consists of a limited number of slopes with varying slopes, where the emphasis is on easy to intermediate skiing. The drop height is modest, but smooth piste and fast lift laps mean that you get many runs in a short time. The facility is often used by local ski clubs for alpine technique training, especially in slalom and giant slalom, which has characterized the piste layout – straight fall lines, clear slope changes and minimal transport distances.
Christmas Mountain has a long history as a local ski slope and has over the years served as an important gathering point for skiers in the region. It is not a large destination facility, but a clear example of classic Midwestern skiing where efficient skiing, piste focus and continuity are at the center.
