Located in Wisconsin, near Mount Horeb, the Tyrol Basin is a classic local slope that attracts many skiers from Madison. With a vertical drop of about 298.6 feet, this is a typical Midwest setup: short transports, fast laps and a facility that is well suited for both night skiing and spontaneous skiing days.
The ski area has 22 slopes and covers everything from beginner slopes to more demanding options for experienced skiers. Despite not being a big mountain, there's enough variety to keep it interesting – especially if you like to ride a lot in a short amount of time and find favourite lines to grind over and over again.
Tyrol Basin is simply a smooth home slope with a good breadth of difficulty and a clear "come here and go" feeling, rather than a facility you plan an entire holiday around.
