CopenHill / Amager Bakke

Ski resorts in Denmark
CopenHill, also known as Amager Bakke, is perhaps the world's most unique ski slope – located on the roof of a combined heat and power plant in the middle of Copenhagen. The facility opened in 2019 and is a modern example of how urban architecture and outdoor life can be combined.
The ski slope stretches 1312.3 feet and has a vertical drop of 246.1 feet. The surface consists of a special plastic material that mimics snow and makes it possible to ski all year round. The system includes four slopes of varying difficulty levels – two green, one green-blue and one red-black – allowing both beginners and experienced skiers to find suitable terrain. The ascent takes place with three conveyor belts and a button lift that takes visitors to the 85-metre-high summit level, where the view of Copenhagen is part of the experience.

In addition to skiing, CopenHill also offers running and hiking trails along the slope, a climbing wall on the building's façade, as well as a café and equipment rental. The resort is just ten minutes by bike from central Copenhagen, making it easy to combine city life and outdoor life on the same day.

CopenHill is a clear example of how sustainable technology and recreation can coexist in the same place – an urban ski slope that allows Danes to ski in the middle of the capital.

Horrible terrain feels like downhill skiing on a steep ice rink.
