Mohawk Mountain

Mohawk Mountain is Connecticut's oldest ski resort and has been in operation since 1947. Located in the northwestern part of the state, in the Litchfield Hills, the resort is a classic east coast slope with a focus on piste skiing rather than size and altitude.

The ski area offers a compact but clear vertical drop, with a good variety of groomed slopes. The terrain is dominated by short to medium slopes with a consistent gradient, making the skiing predictable and technically interesting rather than spectacular. For more experienced skiers, there are some steeper routes, while the main part of the mountain is well suited for calm carving and training skiing.

Mohawk Mountain is particularly known for its strong skiing culture and its focus on education. The ski school has long enjoyed a good reputation, and the facility is often used for the training of youth and competitive skiers from the region. Night skiing is an important part of the business and makes the slope a popular choice for local skiers after work and school.

This is not a destination for off-piste or big adventures, but a well-maintained and traditional ski slope where the focus is on efficient skiing, good piste quality and a clear sense of local skiing history.
