What do you think about Chamonix?
Chamonix is the perfect place for those seeking adventure. The ride is simply superb, mostly because of the offpiste which is clearly the best I tried. By the way, Chamonix just has everything a good ski resort should have as good bars and restaurants, cross country skiing, climbing and ..... ALL!
The negative with the resort is that Chamonix consists of several different mountains that are not interconnected by lift so it's going to go bus ................. but it's worth it =)

Other exciting!
Been in Chamonix in February / 01. It was one of my best weeks in the snow =) Very nice, but not nice weather all week, besides one thing I had for myself. But the more it snowed, a lot of snow was snowing =)
You had to try all the systems, but LeTour was the worst, but you could find some nice offpiste there, though, on the back of Le Tour you can say, but preferably when there is a lot of snow.
Most of the rides were in Le Brevént and Les Grands Montets.
The only bad thing about the resort was its transport system, that is to say. Buses = /
But what to do when you have a wonderful skiing to wait! bite together!
Will return to Cham, please soon, maybe this season, who knows!

I wrote this in the forum and it is aimed at someone who would be there for the first time!

Should you go to Cham for a week, I almost suggest another place or you go there with someone who has been there a lot ...
Cham is terribly good, it's not too, not what it's called ... what it's called ... the metropolis of the skiing or mecka or ... but there are several systems in the valley, you have to go bus between. Often it can be very good on one side, but remember well in another place.
The big mountain - le grande montet - is a bit of a mountainous mountain, if you go "the front", it's mostly "pistachio" (no I know it's not true but that's a good description). But to get to the top, you have to go for the "grek" lifts and it costs extra (think there are some trips in the weekends).
And from here on to the "back" you can go really hard yard down to the end of the roll blanche yard that is next to (not really a stone's throw;) ...
NOT recommended to go without guide ...
But the problem is that everyone wants to go on the big mountain, hence bold queues, already in January! Sad but true.
Several of the other systems have lots of good driving, lots of cruel off-piste. Two personal favorites are the back of the le tour down to the Trion glacier and then bus and train home, a couple of hours of knocking belong too. As well as Brevent where there is very good off-piste, some bit too steep for my taste ... :-)
Then you will find the midi (valle blanche) which is completely open-ended, high-altitude terrain that you should not be in without having a jerk or guide and sometimes both and ...
What I want to say is that once you've been there a couple of times and find a few different places, it's really awesome skiing, but before then, many people feel that it's very decentralized and funky. That it is difficult to find good cohesive pistes and above all that over the last few years, it has become very overpopulated!
I had the privilege of getting a little bummer the first time I was there and then I had a guide for 20 days down there ...
Get there with someone who has been there a few times and you'll get out a lot more ...
As for January, it's common with snow ... During the 12 years I spent there (not all seasons without periods, holidays and seasons ...) I've been involved in everything from bark to cruel pillows at the beginning on January ... So it's not usual to sia in.
But I like this:
are you going away just a single week! Wait to book a trip, check the snow reports two days before you go and go there! Not a fan, you go to a place just because it's going to be good there. I'd rather go to a place with 0 people and fat with pillows, even if it's only 500 fall height meters than fighting with 1000 seasons and wannabees about the snow ... (And NO, I do not call anyone who goes to Cham for the season for wannabees).
________________________________
I think Cham had a glittering season, but still a lot of fun, but it's also a lot of people feeling a lot of locals there. Skiing that's better can be found elsewhere ... because the easy access runs up every hour after the lifts opened.

Mighty mountains and beautiful respectful views, but for the enthusiast with a normal jacket wallet that does not have a guide and helicopter, I do not think the place is the best. I was there -98 v2 and stayed at the Orion in Chamonix Sud, a semi-detached apartment hotel a bit from the center but with shops and pub within walking distance. There was a lot of snow during the week we were there and the avalanches were blasted the first few days, so the snowfall was good. The best ride I think is at Les Grands Montets and Le Brévent, both challenging and varied. Fun short and good. Now to the disadvantages: Stuck "hipp" attitude that does not suit me and buses to all lifting facilities in the area.

Poubellen Gds Montets went on the 31/3 at two o'clock, it was brilliant, did not have to celebrate but could go in a sweep. Wait for the afternoon when the snow is soft and nice, but keep in mind that it varies a lot anyway, next to the wall it's still hard, but to the right it's just burning! Also nice on the glacier, full speed and many little stones to fly far on.
However, may recommend. stakeholders to check how to descend to Mer de Glace before you go, as the "usual" road is not accessible. Working to grab the last bit !!! Also, take the train to avoid 1000 fall height. Have a nice end to the season, hope you get a dump!

As you can see, I give CHAMONIX a five. I have spent a lot of time in Chamonix and can totally agree with some of the views you give.
The buses: but God was so bad, I have not ruled them at about 6 years before week 9 this year when I was not car cage ... But I think it's okay.
60 backs? I did not even think there were so many. If you want to ride manchester in a lot of different slopes, I would not recommend anyone to go to Chamonix.
Offpist: Totally agree that on a sunny day you have to hang on the lock to get you a couple of good yokes before all, and I mean every snow leak is untouched. Too bad, but then you can spend the afternoon at something else.
I think the overall impression depends on who you are with. Are you there with someone who has traveled a lot, or for example a travel agency like UCPA (I barely think it's true I'm saying they are good) then you will be allowed to go to a lot of places that you may not have gone on another and thus get a better impression, believe me! I had friends visiting who met other friends on the mountain. My friends had a very positive view of the RUN in Chamonix while their friends thought it was a cash box.
Finally ..... of course, the snowiness and weather are crucial for how to experience a place .......
Have patience and try again .... Do you want a ski companion if you're there so email!
May the force be with you !!!!

Chamonix would be so heaven well thought ... I've always seen it as a place you just have to go to once in your life and now that I've stayed there I can not say that I have any plans to go back , at least not the next 5-10 years ... and if I were to do that, it would have only one purpose, to choose a blanche that I had not had the opportunity to go under v 9 this year because of poor visibility...
Otherwise, I think chamonix is a very uncomfortable ski resort ... the lift system is small and not coincidental so you have to go on busy buses to get to the lifting systems ... and the fact that chamonix has about 60 backs but about 100,000 people in the village During high sail, you speak for yourself. blueberries are not easy to avoid here ... and then we had a bad time and came during the week it was snowing the most for the whole season so far, so it sounds like a good time, but given that they close almost the entire system to blow avalanches then you can imagine how crowded it was in the few slopes that were left ... and then one thing that bothered me so heavily e that the village is so low ... it will not do it. That fan will not rain in a ski resort, because it does. Although rain in the village means snow at 1500 meters, it just feels so badly wrong ....
but i still have to give chamonix a 3rd because we got some really awesome offpist trips in the brevent system, and so we had fun fun at night sometimes ...

Did not think there were .. come to chamonix saturday 17th of feb 18th: wake up to snow covered mountains and clear blue skies .. then two days later you look out .. and see that the snow is totally falling down !! During that day it will snow about 50 cm. since the 22nd; waking up to clear blue skies and coming up to Moant Blanch .. and finding offpiste with between 70 and 100 cm of snow. It may be better .. if you have not been to Chamonix then I promise you will get your fatest ride .. Do you want the best why not take the best !! CHAMONIX !!

Incredible views and amazing alpine history.
Yes, it's time for fun. There remains a dirty Swedish colony where some of the skis world's coolest posers are crowded with fake photographers and self-named mountain guides with too little dolme. Big mountains and very small people. The skiing would be all right if it were not for the trillion blueberry with fat layers and nipolated Leedom helmet that shines down for every free snowplot in faith that is God's gift to the photographers, sponsors and the little-fat brothers at Munchies.
Chamonix can only be recommended for a month of the year: April. The snow can still be good but the posers have been sorry for the missing star status and have returned to Sweden to boast about their incredible season as a skiing model in the Alps.
April raises the score from one to two.

Great expectations, however, sprained a little. Chamonix can certainly be a gem if you hang on the lift lock every morning. Disappointed very quickly and that the nightlife was disappointing. The plus that raises a tad is aftershin on touring - be there or be ..... But but it says you should have where there ...
