Mt. Baldy

Ski resorts in USA
Located in the San Gabriel Mountains, about an hour northeast of Los Angeles, Mt. Baldy is one of the most elevated ski resorts in Southern California. Skiing takes place on the northern slopes of Mount San Antonio, which often provides cooler temperatures and better snow conditions than further down in the region.
The resort is known for its steep and relatively unpolished character. The terrain is clearly geared towards experienced skiers, with consistent slopes, open drop lines and limited grooming when snow conditions allow. Slopes and off-piste often merge, and much of the skiing takes place in natural terrain rather than on strictly defined slopes.

The lift system is simple but functional, and Mt. Baldy has long been appreciated by local skiers who prioritize vertical drop, steep skiing and natural snow over amenities and a broad family profile. It is a ski resort that is often described as raw and uncompromising – more focus on the skiing itself than on the setting around it.
