Mt. Holiday Ski Area

Ski resorts in USA
Located just outside Traverse City in northern Michigan, Mt. Holiday Ski Area is one of the state's more classic local ski slopes. The facility is run on a non-profit basis and has for decades served as a training and everyday slope for the region's skiers.
Skiing is compact and clearly structured, with slopes that make use of vertical dropen efficiently rather than spreading out. There are both easier runs and steeper sections that provide more technical skiing, which has made Mt. Holiday popular for training in alpine skiing. The slope is regularly used by local clubs and has a clear connection to competition activities.

The terrain park is a central part of the facility and is updated continuously, which attracts both younger skiers and freestyle enthusiasts. Night skiing is common and reinforces the role of after-work slope rather than holiday resort.

Mt. Holiday is a good example of how a smaller ski slope can play an important role in local ski culture – with a focus on skiing, training and continuity rather than experience packages and destination tourism.
