Mt Lyford

Mt Lyford is a small, family-run ski resort on the South Island, located in the Kaikoura Ranges northwest of Christchurch. The resort is located between 1,245 and 1,2460.6 feet altitude and offers about 20 slopes with 5 lifts. With its laid-back atmosphere and unique wooden chalet village at the foot of the mountain, the resort attracts both local ski families and travelers looking for a more personalized skiing experience.

For beginners, there are wide, easy slopes and special children's areas near the base. The intermediate skier can enjoy longer slopes through both open spaces and protective woodlands, while advanced skiers will find steeper terrain, natural features and smaller areas for freeriding. When snow conditions are good, Mt Lyford offers unexpectedly varied skiing, from carving-friendly slopes to powder fields.

The base area houses a café, ski rental and a family lodge.
