Snow Park NZ

Located near the Cardrona Valley on New Zealand's South Island, Snow Park NZ was an iconic destination for freestylers from all over the world during its active years. The facility was unique in that it consisted almost exclusively of terrain parks and features for snowboarding and freeskiing. Here was one of the southern hemisphere's most advanced setups with pipes, rails, boxes and jumps of all sizes.

Unlike traditional ski resorts, Snow Park was not primarily aimed at beginners or intermediate skiers looking for slopes, but at advanced skiers and park enthusiasts. The atmosphere was characterized by creativity and community, where both amateur and professional national teams trained side by side. Many international competitions and film productions were held here, which gave the resort a cult status in the freestyle world.

Accommodation was offered in simpler lodge style on the mountain, while a greater variety of hotels and restaurants were available in nearby Wanaka. The evenings were often spent in social environments with music, barbecues and a strong sense of community between the skiers. Although Snow Park NZ is no longer in operation, the legacy lives on as a milestone in the development of freestyle skiing in New Zealand.
