Grandvalira

Grandvalira in eastern Andorra is the Pyrenees’ largest interconnected ski area, with approximately 130 miles of slopes across seven sectors. The terrain is linked by slopes and lifts from Encamp and Canillo via Soldeu, El Tarter, Peretol, and Grau Roig to Pas de la Casa on the French border. Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís belong to the same company group and can be accessed with certain lift passes, but you cannot ski there directly.

Piste skiing is the main attraction. Intermediate skiers can move between the sectors all day. Soldeu and El Tarter have both wide slopes and steeper racing runs, including the World Cup courses Avet and Àliga. Canillo is quieter, with more beginner terrain. Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig are located higher up near the border, offering greater elevation as well as night skiing in Pas.

Freeriding is available, especially around Grau Roig and El Tarter, with excellent off-piste routes shown on the piste map. It complements the groomed terrain rather than guaranteeing powder every day. There is a snow park in El Tarter, and Peretol has a park that may be open in the evening.

Grandvalira is best suited to piste skiers who want a wide variety of terrain within one interconnected system, especially groups in which some people prefer easier slopes while others want more challenging skiing.
