Kittelfjäll is the place to be.. fun natural pipes to play in around the skisystem and this time a year they are having a lot of snow!
Good chances to make a good hiking for even more fluffy powder in all levels close and around the area.
Kittelfjäll as a skiresort is genuin, friendly and simple. It is what you make of it. With a opened mind, Kittel is whatever you need.
Why not just sit down in the bar, having a pizza and play a game with staff, friends or a new person around you ? Closer to weekends there is a magic afterski with livemusic and steaming vibe of happy skiers and snowboarders.

An awesome little skiing resort with loads of offpiste around and affordable heliskiing.
The so called pistes are mostly ungroomed because they run through little canyons. Accommodation is mostly wooden houses which are really comfy and the bars are nice as well. The lift pass is well affordable and snow conditions range from great to epic.
Even though it looks quite small there is lots to explore!!

I have lived here for several years and usually go up weekends and holidays, I can simply say that Kittelfjäll is nothing less than a paradise for those who love powder and challenging terrain. When a snow dump hits, the mountain becomes a dream, and you don't even need a meter of snow to get magical rides. Just 20 cm of cold powder is enough for an unforgettable day, where every turn feels magical. Especially in ravines and natural halfpipes, the skiing is something out of the ordinary. Of course, it often happens that there are more than 20 - but seasons when there are hardly powder days with more than 10cm. Rarely, however.

For the top tour enthusiast, there are easy and accessible options, such as Sadeln, where with a little effort you can reach fantastic rides in untracked terrain. Kittelfjäll is simply a dream for the advanced skier looking for untouched snow and steep lines.

What about the piste skiers? Well, if you love carving and groomed runs, there are better options. Kittelfjäll only has two groomed slopes, which can feel limiting for those who want to stick to pit-free turns.

For children, however, the resort is perfectly fine, with two children's slopes offering safe and fun skiing for the younger ones. The park is not the biggest, but has a good mix of big and small jumps and a lot of rails and boxes for those who like freestyle.

The food is definitely a plus, with really good options, especially at the Inn where you can get a well-deserved break between rides. The accommodation is also hard to beat, as you can rent ski-in/ski-out chalets or accommodation so close you only have to walk 30 meters to the lift.

If there's a downside, it's the lifts. They're old, from the 60s, and can stop when the wind picks up. But they tend to stay running most of the time, and considering the skiing that awaits, that's a small thing in the scheme of things.

In summary, Kittelfjäll is a dream destination for those who are looking for challenging and varied skiing in fantastic nature. If you're a piste skier, you might want to look for other options, but for powder fans and off-piste skiers, there are few places in Sweden that can match this hidden gem.

A sure 5/5

A magical place to "the vibe" in the village. Enthusiasts, people who love the mountains and the snow come here. The reason is the possibilities in terms of riding in this place. For those who want to party, there is also a smaller après ski, which during the high season is often a rough ride. There are plenty of top tour opportunities nearby and wild rides for both the experienced and the new to the world. For the snow-poor winter (of which there are few up here), there is at least a park and a few well-groomed pistes.

Far from the throbbing nightclubs and tight lift queues of the big alports, up-to-the-morning slopes and gaudy shell jackets, far from existence permeated by freeriding... Far from there lies Kittelfjäll. The village with a population of 69 people offers a long mountain side, with sparse birch forest, dotted with ravines. Here, boot dancing on the après ski tables is rare, as is panic in the overcrowded ski bus. The walk to the lift is not cluttered with gadget shops and junk, but instead you will be attracted by the closely adjacent wilderness.
Kittelfjäll offers freeriding fun.

We visited Kittelfjäll week 8 2022. However, we stayed in the affordable Grönfjälls cottage village, a short drive from the lifts. Co-residents here were largely grouse hunters who did not unashamedly show off the game of the day.

As usual, when you've planned your freeride trip for a long time, we managed to squeeze in a snow-poor week, just after a thaw period.
After the first day's strong wind, when we ourselves thought that the little snow that was there had blown away, Kittelfjäll Adventure's helpful guide was instead able to show us where the snow had blown and the thirst for powder could be quenched. Even in the days afterwards, we were able to return and harvest the majority of crops.
We got a sunny view of the top of Borkafjället and our guide peppered the tours with curiosities and stories from the surroundings.

Kittelfjäll is served by two tow lifts between which the main ride is located, with its aforementioned gorges. For those who think that canyoning sounds awesome, there is also plenty of "normal" canyoning between the canyons.
But it is, apart from about 4 nice slalom slopes, an unprepared mountain side with about 30 different slopes. The snow situation did not allow us to test the very largest ravines, but in the smaller ones we could fantasize about cutting down the day's first tracks after white precipitation. When such a day occurs, the possibilities in Kittelfjäll are likely to touch the infinite, and for those who want to look for turns outside the ski system, they will be able to find loose snow many days afterwards.

Kittelfjäll is a unique ski resort with a unique skiing experience. For the skier whose main purpose is freeriding, this place should be high on the list.

Skied here for many years, but now on the 9th of January at the latest, we put in 90 cm of new powder on arrival.
Almost empty on the slope, with the exception of a few die-hard skiers. Totally good riding, X number of trees were felled on the fly, but clearly the right slope for off-piste.

Kittelfjäll is one of Sweden's best ski resorts for off-piste skiing. A few pisted slopes meet forest, ravines and open unpiste areas. The village is small and lively (during the weekends) with a permanent population of about 100 people. You can find good food at both the hotel and the inn.
There are two cable lifts available.

The fact that the mountain is relatively inaccessible and undeveloped is the biggest asset. There are rarely many people and endless opportunities to play for those who want to. Kittelfjäll is primarily a mecca for those who prioritize skiing over accommodation.
