Kittelfjäll-An affordable classic

Booked the trip and then I went in here and read the reviews.
Was almost ready to get the ironing at the desk upon arrival and food poisoning per prompt, then breaking the legs in some form of icefall called pist ....
However, as an old tour leader in the alps of the 80's, I knew that most things can last forever.

With these least said low hopes, I arrived and my son 5 years v 15.
Had booked Stockholm flight package with 3 ski days and 4 nights.

skiing:
3 ski days divided into 1 sun, 1 molten, 1snow windy.
Certainly, there is not much for them the least, but on the other hand, the children's back is good when you are 5.
You do not have to go to the children's back. Just take the anchor lift to the 1st stop.
For those who do not want to go on the floor, skiing is fun and varied.
For me, as a hubby, it was a bit fun with the gorges, got a bit of soda in the birch forest one day which is a bonus!
Gold with the geuina top cabin that was also open when the wind was blowing.

hotel:
Nice staff, great food and nice relaxed atmosphere.
Sure it's worn and the rooms are small, but it's nice and affordable!

Weather:
As said, Swedish weather in the Swedish mountains is what you can count on.
If you want something else, do not you go here .....

General Review:
Classic Swedish ski resort.
The place is clockwise, been crazy to go here for 25 years and have to say I'm more than happy.
Lovely, genuine mountain environment, a bit like the Riksgränsen, but it's good in its own way.
Certainly, the rooms and the hotel are not exclusive in their details, but then there are other options for those who seek this.
But for the price you get food and lodging, the formula is very affordable.
The ghastly traveler who always wants more than he pays for, of course, is not satisfied.
But on the other hand, -this never he'll be at least :-)

Perhaps the snow of the year has given the best conditions for forty years according to those who have participated. From the two lifts you reach varied and challenging rides. Even after a half-day ridge after fresh snow, you will find your own new runs through brook graves and sparse birch forests. After a snowfall of a few decimeters overnight, the mountain offers Sweden's best ride, although the fall height does not impress.

The mountains in the immediate surroundings, including Risfjällen and Borka, can be mentioned offer great and good opportunities for off-piste skiing with helicopter lift.

Hotell Kittelfjäll offers very simple accommodation combined with good food at relatively low prices.

After 4 days in Kittelfjäll, I have found some good and bad points based on my experiences V9 2007. (The first time I was there)
Personally, the plant is too small and the description in the marketing is far too inflated. There are no slopes to drive full and the famous offpiste is minimal if you do not like to wrestle with mountain birches.
Now over to my plus and minus list We start negative:
- The inflated marketing facility is a disappointment for me
"The kittens, messy and bad, managed to swell to it, so I missed Heliski, really bad.
"The lifts are in a bad condition and stay far too often.
"I'm not so careful whatsoever but nice to the community's rooms so it does not smell sunk and drain!
- Cheese in the dining room
- Generally zero in the staff
- Missing mattresses in front of pipes that stand up here and there, really dangerous.

Plus the page then
+ The food was the canon this week and you eat how much you want!
+ The slopes kept good quality
+ Price, 1800 buckle, room, food, lift pass for 5 days, rude good price.
+ Heliskiin was apparently good for those who had to go.
+ Relaxed atmosphere at the staff (a little too much see above) and the guests
+ Queues not available (Only when the elevator has stopped)

The good thing is that it is possible to make the place a really good facility. Come on a little bit and do not hurt, fix the lifts, make clear estimates of what's going on (Kittelguides) and remove or throw a protective mat covering all the pipes that pop up. Control the arrangement in the dining room to make it flow more smoothly.

Were in Kittelfjäll Week 2 2007. Had 40cm new snow. Kittelfjäll turns into a fantastic playground. Ravines, drips, hiking, calfjäll, sparsely wooded helicopters lift. Everything is for the advanced rider. It was only the forces that stopped during 3 days of wonderful skiing.

There were a few people never more than 10 people before in the elevator queue.

Ski experience: OK
Travel and lodging: BIG FIASKO !!
We hoped to have a nice skiing weekend (and did not choose to go to Sälen) but I do not remember when I have been so tired and annoyed after a ski trip lately. Skiing, as I said, was ok - I thought both me and my guy are much more useful. HELISKIING is big plus! Even the food in the hotel was good.

BUT do not go on with ActiveS !! We thought the trip up and down with the buses was very uncomfortable overall. But the worst was that we got to stay with a j ... A SCHOOL CLASS !! It was a heavenly life in the evenings when the fourteen players played poker in the kitchen and screamed and partyed at night. We complained several times but not once we saw a responsible adult there. The accommodation was very poorly organized and the responsibility of Active because they only send out a list of names to the hotel which then handles the keys. We will never again go with them! It feels that the only thing they care about is making money - NOT to give people fun skiing experiences!

Offpist + Sneaky + Adult Experienced Offist = Gun!
Family Family + Hard / Icey = Disaster!
Pretty good food at the hotel. However, the hotel is extremely worn and almost filthy in terms of cleanliness and general standard. Not even the garbage in our room was emptied in a week when we were there, now v 1 = no cleaning over the main! However, cheap with full board, 1800pp / 5d, incl. Lift card and jaw.

For younger children / beginners, the place is full-bodied. Climbing 30 meters (200m highway) from the hotel with trilskande kids + childback equipment. Alternatively, scary "catapult button lifts" + skating (I know, I'm comfortable ...) For steep children's back without sensible catch (if you're home / parking 150 feet downhill) = bullies are dead. + that the children's back is surrounded by deadly steep breeding graves. If you are less at the kids, the choice is simple - go here.

If you are a grown-up rider, love the variety of offpst, tight ravines, have good local feel (no slopes are marked other than extremely rudimentary) and lucky that it has fallen> 20 cm late last night (which is rare here), the ride is difficult. Are you a car manufacturer who likes well-groomed long, fast scratches = avoid. Family families with children under 6 years = definitely avoid. Some charm with the sunbathing hotel (if you can live with a dingy) but who wins in a reasonably decent kitchen - (hello the kitchen staff!) High proportion of staff at the hotel, in addition, seem to regard the guests as an unnecessary pain in anticipation of their own rides / festivals . Place with potential, but not fully managed.

I've been to Kittelfjäll, how to get along sometimes, with some snow and with a lot of snow. When there is a meter of pillows, Kittälfjäll is one of Sweden's best off-piste and heliski resorts. When it's a bit of snow, it's not as fun because then there are hardly any good slopes or parks to go in.
I would recommend checking how much snow there are a few days let's stick it!

This morning from Kittel with the activity fixes, it was rude good. A little bad with snow in the slopes, but it had gathered well in the gorges and the forest. Did a two-way lift to Borka and Dauna with Kallaxflyg, had a rough ride with a lot of cold snow. Unbelievably little people, given that it was still a sports holiday week ...

Can not understand for my life what people had for food problems, had wonderful breakfast / lunch / dinner every day. Really really great food. Great service at the front desk, nice guides who showed around all possible offpiste skiing that one would never find otherwise ... nothing to complain about. Personal feeling, one felt revamped at everybody at the hotel when traveling home.

Snacked with Carl-Johan or what his name was that started the place in the 70's, they will have the new lift to the saddle ready at the earliest next season, the last nineteenth season ...

Sad to read that the kittens have been so badly judged by some, because I am warm about the heart. "a lot of skating and you do not want to go", it's like some of the stuff with kittel, that you go on a walk all the time. And to get over the top at the northern bank and stand there for a while and sweat and look out over the mountain peaks across the Norwegian border, to go scooter and fish in a lake or make a day trip on daunan and then come back for a beer in the sun on the balcony, that's what makes the kettle. But it's clear that you want to go up and down in good lifts and down well-prepared slopes, so kittens are not the place for you. Try Sälen instead if so.

Kittelfjäll is a wonderful ski mountain which unfortunately suffers from its geographical location. It is seldom snowing here and the snow reports from here are never correct. Why do you always wonder if there is any snow in Kittelfjäll on the forum every winter? But when the low pressure comes from the east, it can get a lot of dump. That's when you go here to go to one of Sweden's funniest lift offpiste. The weeks after the snowfall, you have to like puckles or go for a hike to appreciate the place because you are sad for the few slopes. The mountain has a fairly moderate slope and you do not have to worry about it being too steep or radical. If you want steep ride then you get tossed and I can recommend it. One tip is that there is always more snow in the outskirts of the boarders' nest.
