Sun Alpina Aokiko

Sun Alpina Aokiko was located by Lake Aoki in the southern part of the Hakuba Valley, near Omachi. The ski resort is now closed and hasn’t been in regular operation since the late 2000s, but it’s still a name that may show up on older trail maps and in descriptions of the area around Hakuba, Sanosaka, and Kashimayari.

When the resort was operating, it was small and easy to navigate, with views of Lake Aoki as a big part of the experience. The skiing was mainly geared toward beginners and intermediate skiers, with gentle runs, a family-friendly feel, and a more low-key profile than the larger resorts farther north in the Hakuba Valley.

So this is no longer a current ski option for a trip to Japan—more a discontinued part of Hakuba’s ski history. For similar skiing nearby, Hakuba Sanosaka or Kashimayari are more relevant alternatives.
