Hakuba Cortina

Hakuba Cortina is a small, charming ski resort that is known for its fantastic snowfall and lovely off-piste. The mountain is compact but steep enough to provide a challenge for more experienced skiers, while there are easier descents for beginners and families. Cortina is a favorite among freeriders thanks to its many pristine tree areas and easily accessible sidecountry, where you can find deep, fluffy Japanese powder snow even the day after a snowfall.

The lifts are efficient and take you quickly up to the top, where you can choose between groomed slopes, tree runs or more adventurous off-piste. The steep sections of the mountain are well composed with more even terrain, which makes the runs feel long and varied despite the area being small. Cortina also has a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere – the slopes are never crowded, and after a day on the snow, there are cosy restaurants and small cafés near the lifts.

With its combination of stable slope, easily accessible off-piste and generous amounts of snow, Hakuba Cortina is a real gem for those who want a true Japanese skiing experience beyond the largest and busiest areas.
