Caviahue

Ski resorts in Argentina
Caviahue is a small, nature-based ski resort in northern Patagonia, known for its unique environment with sulphur-scented hot springs, lava fields and the peculiar araucaria forests that surround the village. The ski area ranges from 1,650 to 2,328.1 feet above sea level and includes around 20 slopes and 12 lifts. Although the range is not as large as at the country's largest resorts, Caviahue attracts with snow security, open spaces and a relaxed atmosphere.
For beginners and families, the slopes are clear and easily accessible, with a ski school and children's areas adjacent to the village. More experienced skiers appreciate the open slopes above the tree line and the opportunities for shorter summit tours or side-country skiing. The off-piste is easy to reach but still relatively safe, which makes the resort popular for those who want to discover freeskiing without having to go far from the lifts.

Caviahue has a smaller but welcoming range of services with hotels, apartments, restaurants and of course access to the famous thermal baths – perfect for recovery after a day on the mountain. The proximity to the Copahue National Park and the active volcanoes gives the area a dramatic setting and means that a ski trip here can be combined with nature experiences that are difficult to find in other resorts.
