Branäs reviews (Page 5)

Ski resorts in Sweden
What do you think about Branäs?

The slopes are generally really poorly maintained. You have about 60-90 minutes to make a couple of turns before there is only blank ice left on the slopes. With the exception of big amundsbacken, it stays ok all day, which is really strange.

Whether it's because the climate isn't favorable, or the skiing is bad, or there are too many people in too little space, I don't know, but unfortunately it is what it is. I have no idea about the green slopes. And the length of the blue ones is just false marketing, they are full of pointless transports... However, the red ones are pretty steep at times :)

It hardly makes sense to bring piste skis, ride a pair of all mountain and play in the afternoon drifts on the slopes. Alternatively, enjoy semi-ok forest skiing with a pair of wider layers. If only a little fluff has arrived, there is some really fun forest skiing in its parts!

If more accommodation is to continue to be built without the number of pistes/lifts being expanded, it will probably soon be time to give up on the resort, unfortunately. Feels like it could be any good here but too much commerce, too little space for too many people..

Not many green slopes, mostly blue slopes which are quite steep, not a good place for beginners. The slopes are broken up at lunchtime, pure ice road and large snowbanks that make it difficult to ride. Way too many people, feels undersized with slopes, restaurants and barbecue areas for all these people.

If you have small children and are beginners, Branäs is the place for your first skiing holiday (if you come from Skåne or the west coast).
The positives are nice "affordable" cabins, good lifts I would probably say the best of the ones I've ridden in Sweden.
Perfect for children up to 10 years to ride around and play.
Nice staff in the lift.
But that's probably where the positives end.
Fairly bad pistes and many slopes up on the "mountain" I experienced as quite narrow, more transport route than slope 🤷 ♂️ down towards the village there were more classic slopes, however quite driven up quite early, there is potential to do more slopes down towards the village, but man seems to be investing in more cabins and even more children's slopes.
Would not recommend any family with children who can ski to choose Branäs, then there are other places along the same route to choose from.

Absolutely ridiculously bad plowing to get up to the facility, several cars that couldn't make it. Should have gone home on Saturday, so sat and waited for them to shovel the road from 9 o'clock in the morning when we were ready. The road was not shoveled until 15.30. Under all the criticism.

After going to other places for a couple of years, we had decided to book a short week in Branäs for the last days of the Christmas holidays. We liked Branäs before, but this time there was no order on the slopes. Many of the slopes, if not all such large sections, had lots of bumps. We were hoping it would be better the next morning but they haven't evened anything out at all. We have never seen so many fallers, both young and old, who had difficulty riding and so many who complained that it was so difficult to enjoy skiing. The condition of the slopes was under all criticism. Never again.

Nice slopes and cozy areas but the service is under ALL criticism! We go on several ski trips a year and have done so for many years. We have not been to Branäs before and despite nice slopes and a good children's area, we will NEVER go back.

Our cabin was not cleaned (it has happened to us once before in all the years and then Skistar sent out cleaners immediately + offered final cleaning as compensation) and we therefore called Branäs guest service. We both joined their phone queue. After an hour in line, we made the decision to start cleaning ourselves (took photos of all the dirt) because our youngest needed to go to bed. After 1.5 hours in line I was connected to an answering machine. The husband arrived after almost 2 hours in line and was told that Branäs will not compensate us in any way because we cleaned ourselves. "That's not what our policy looks like."

Throughout our week we were met by young people who were completely disempowered and without adequate tools to do a good job. In addition, the staff was incredibly small. If the lifts stopped in the children's slope, they stayed like that for 15-20 minutes before it was possible to get hold of any staff who could tell someone to come and fix it.

I can't really put into words how disappointed we are with the service we received here. But consider this: I am a mother of three, studying and working at the same time. My time is tight, but I still took the time to write this review! Take my word for it: DO NOT go to Branäs!

Great area for families with children. Close to lifts, restaurant, shop. Nice children's slopes of varying difficulty and length, but also some nice slopes for more experienced skiers.

With grandchildren on the slopes, Branäs is the best place!
